The Most Searched Fitness Question ‘How To Lose Weight Fast’ and My Tips On The Answer

So you’ve probably guessed it, and maybe even perhaps asked this question to yourself. ‘How to lose weight fast? If everything happened at a speed of lighting then everyone would be reaching and sustaining their weight loss goals all over the world. But in reality, we know that that’s far from reality. So I know you don’t want to hear it, but unfortunately there is no quick fix. Having a healthy strong body takes dedication and long term commitment to make changes to your diet and exercise habits. You can lose lots of weight and build a stronger body by changing your lifestyle.  You have to realise that gaining weight doesn’t happen overnight, therefore its not going to come off overnight too. You have to be in it for the long run, to be the best version of yourself. This my friend doesn’t have a deadline.

Here are some of the factors which have influenced my lifestyle to sustain healthy habits to keep myself in shape and eating well.

  1. Scheduling time for exercise, I don’t agree with the ‘I don’t have time’ excuse. We all have 24 hrs in a day. When I was at my most busy, working full time, competing and studying I still made time for exercise. I remember working 7am-8pm most days and choosing to cycle rather than drive to work to get my exercise in. You could also go to bed earlier and get up earlier. Give yourself an extra power hour when you move your body. This could be anything which gets your heart pumping and movement through those muscle tissues. Then the exercise is out the way, you feel good and ready to start your day in a positive mind frame.
  2. Meal Prep- I’ve said it before and will say it again ‘fail to plan, plan to fail’. It’s so important to take at least 1-2 hours a day twice a week to prepare your meals. I do mine for 3 days so food stays fresh) Supermarket meals are laced in hidden sugars and usually when we leave it until we are hungry we make bad decisions. It’s best to carry round snacks and prepare your own healthy meals to avoid such situations. You will also save so much money as an added bonus.
  3. Get Creative- Find healthy meals which you find exciting. There’s nothing worse that staring at a plate of chicken and broccoli, believing this is the way to lose weight. There’s a vast amount of information on the web of recipes out there, and its about finding the ones which are going to be the most nutritious for your body. If you suck at cooking, then thats ok, cooking is a skill and the beauty of a skill is that it can be taught. I didn’t know how to cook when I went to uni and taught myself. It’s all about the willingness to learn.
  4. Plan the day after the night before. I always lay out all my clothes I will wear the next day. Pack my gym bag, my diary and do all my sessions plans. That way, you can get up, focus on the important stuff and be more productive (without wasting time looking for the matching sock). I also plan my meals and place them in the fridge ready to go into a bag if i’m out for most of the day.
